Hotstepper of the week
Munib Nawaz

Think of vampires and you think of Munib Nawaz. Not that he's the blood-sucking type of designer (believe us when we say there are many of those around) but because his design philosophy has always been heavily inspired by the Gothic era. You can expect a lot of black (his favourite colour) and a lot of drama. Now love it or hate it, he usually puts up collections that are hard to ignore. Munib is the man for dark and silent types who love drama in their dress, a bit of Gothic romance thrown in with a dose of the macabre.

Those looking for dandy blue day suits and conventional classicism must look elsewhere.
But Munib Nawaz isn't a hotstepper for creating a signature that is to be reckoned with; he's hotstepper for having a vision for his label and working towards making it successful.

Five years and 97 music videos (he revolutionized the way bands were stylized in music videos in Pakistan) after he set foot in the industry, he is hotstepper for once being "that boy who doesn't deserve to be called a menswear designer" (and we all know who said that!) to becoming the guy who beat everyone else to Miami Fashion Week, returning with the award for Best Men's Style Designer of the Year. And of course, also for putting up his first solo show and it may not be the first time someone has done that in Pakistan, but it is the first time in a very long time.
