Govt action against Jang Group termed pressure tactics

KARACHI: Aalami Majlise Tahaffuze Khatme Nubuwwat, Millat Party, Awami Jiddojohad Forum, Tanzeem Asattiza Pakistan, Landhi Cottage Industry Zone, KMC and other organisations have strongly condemned the Nawaz Sharif government for its negative steps taken against Jang Group and termed the act as 'pressure tactics' against the press.

The leaders of different organisations held meetings and demanded of the government to immediately review its steps against Jang Group. The leaders of various organisations including Maulana Muhammad Akram Toofani, Maulana Allah Wassaya, Advocate Khalid Mumtaz, Prof Muhammad Ishaq Mansoori, Prof Abu Aamir Azmi, Prof Muhammad Hassan, Raziul Hassan, Muhammad Ayyub Khan Niazi and SM Rehan Zaidi, said that the masses would not allow the government to victimize Jang Group and journalist community.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party Pakistan held a meeting at its Karachi Office, where leaders of various political parties and labour unions discussed the issues of 'victimization of press', 'pressure on judiciary' and 'deployment of army personnel in various organisations'.

The meeting was participated by former member of National Assembly and leader of Federal Union for Banks and Financial Institutions, Abdul Aziz Memon; Peoples Unity of PIA and People's Labour Bureau leader, Sheikh Majeed; UBL Employees Federation of Pakistan representative, Zahid Hussain Awan; Railway Workers Inqilabi Union leader, Manzoor Ahmed Razi; Pakistan Workers Federation representative, Fareed Awan; Mehnat-kash Union (CBA) leader, Rao Shamshad Ali; Adara-e-Amno Insaf representative, Sheikh Ghayasuddin; Awami Jamhooru Party leader, Shafi Sheikh; AG Sindh Employees Union, Nasir Mansoor and Labour Party leaders, Ghulam Akbar and Ateeq Ahmed and Nasir Baloch.
