LAHORE: A resolution condemning victimisation of the Jang Group has been submitted to the Lahore High Court Bar Association on Wednesday.

Shahid Mahmood Bhatti, who moved the resolution, stated the government had turned its guns towards the press after damaging other state institutions. The resolution stated the government was usurping the right to expression by issuing threatening notices to the owner of the Jang Group of Publications. He demanded the formation of a national commission under chief justice of Pakistan for the protection of state institutions.

Convener of the Save Judiciary Committee, Abdul Rashid Qureshi, and other members also condemned the government attitude towards The News and Jang. The committee members said these newspapers had published true stories with hard facts due to which the rulers had become enemy of the group.
