I firmly believe in
the good relations between India and Pakistan. Holding the summit shows that
both countries are interested in peace.

Musharraf-Vajpayee
negotiation is a better way forward to solve the problems between the two
countries, and the negotiations must be continued. Kashmir problem is a
complicated and big problem, and it can't be solved in a couple of meetings;
it will take time.

Nothing can be achieved
without us- Kashmiris- being included in the talks.

I acknowledge the
sincerity and the willingness on part Vajpayee and of Musharraf to resolve the
Kashmir issue. I do hope that, the process now initiated will be continued in
future as well; till the final solution to this problem, to the satisfaction
of all concerned parties, is achieved and implemented.

I hope, if both Musharraf and Vajpayee are sincere in changing the lot of
their respective nations, then the possible outcome of the summit will be
positive and optimistic one.

Both the countries will only agree to continue the dialogue on different
issues including Kashmir.

In my opinion, the major success of General’s visit, is the opening of
the doors of negotiations between the two countries. From Agra, it is up to
the leadership of Pakistan and India how they tackle the different issues by
negotiations and dialogue; if somebody had a fear that we are not going to
get something from this summit, they are not right.

The probable outcome is better relations between Pakistan and India,
although it may not seem obvious now. When two leaders who are suspicious of
each other sit face to face and talk, they get to know each other better and
feel more friendly. Lot of misconceptions is removed. This, if continued,
will result in better relations between the two countries.

The disarming of the LoC will be the most likely outcome of this summit.
Furthermore, future friendly meetings between both nations will mean that
this summit has been a success.

The summit can bring about a positive change in the sub continent, if
leaders from both sides show some political wisdom. However, it can prove to
be a futile exercise if they tried to handle the affairs with biased
mentality.

I believe that, Musharraf and Vajpayee are not going to lose this golden
opportunity. Instead of repeating the old standpoints, they may try to do
the best possible for the peace and prosperity of their peoples and their
future generations.

The proposed talks between Vajpayee and Musharraf will not bear any
substantial fruit. The primary objectives of the two parties are
diametrically divergent. Therefore, nothing could come out of talks.

I do not think that Gen. Musharraf's 3-day trip to India would solve the
life-long Kashmir dispute.
