In his recent address to the nation, Prime Minister Mir Zaffarullah Jamli said it would be rather difficult to support US-led war on Iraq. What is your opinion?

Most of the Muslim countries, including Pakistan, are reluctant to raise their voice against western domination.  Pakistan’s diplomatic strategy has been adequate so far in terms of maintaining a balance between the West and the Muslim world. 

Unfortunately, our Prime Minister has still failed to take a clear stance on the Iraq crisis and rather made a conflicting statement when it comes to voting against war or remaining abstain. The general public has already cleared. The need is that the government should have had a perceptive policy of national interest at least at this time.  The prime minister seemed incapacitated, leaving the public skeptical.

It is now clear for the whole world that Iraq has no weapons of mass destruction and it is fully complying with the U.N resolution. No one is buying Bush's self-made stories. No wonder, it is all propaganda. I think our President and Prime minister should issue a joint statement about their position on Iraq.

This is the best decision and it really depicts Pakistani people’s view. The decision clarifies that we will not become the part of any war.

I just want to ask why Pakistan is not clarifying itself on Iraq issue. Why are we always looking for money. The need it that Pakistan  should never be in the favour of America.

Pakistan’s stand on resolving the crisis has been always on the mutual understanding and through negotiations either with the US or with hostile India.  Jamali’s speech is voice of the people, as he rose up to stand by the people of Iraq and hence want a everlasting peace in the Middle East.

I think it's time for Pakistan to decide on which side they want to stand. At the moment, Pakistan tries to serve two great leaders.

It is a will taken decision but needs clarity. Fact is is that the decision without voting does not reflect the will of the masses.

What our Prime Minister has said in his latest speech is quite right. This is the fact that Pakistan is a Muslim country and the majority of our people want that the war on Iraq must be avoided. This is the recognition of sentiments of our masses and I hope that the government will not go against the opinion of the people.

The government must clearly state its opinion about Iraq, because majority of the world leaders and countries like France, Russia and Germany have rejected the stance of the US seeking a war against Iraq.  The protests against war on Iraq also show that war should be avoided. It would be good step if Pakistan, being a member of the UN Security Council, opposes a possible US-led war against Iraq.

 Iraq has done nothing wrong to the world peace and it has already been punished in the past. Iraqi people are suffering from the last one decade. We hope that our government will  not take any difficult decision to anger the nation.

I really appreciate Mr. Jamali's this decision. On humanitarian bases, we all should stop USA to attack on IRAQ. We are Muslims and it's our big responsibility to protect the Muslim across the world.

If America says that Iraq is doing something wrong so we should solve this problem after table talks, which is the most peaceful way. I pray for the strong unity of the Muslim countries against any anit-Islam incursion.

Being a Muslim country Pakistan should not go in favour of USA to attack on Iraq.

Prime Minister Mr Zafarullah Khan Jamali said in his speech that decision is very difficult to make regarding Iraqi issue.

Does the Prime Minister really know that the President has personally extended his support to Mr. Bush for US war on Iraq?

In other words: does the left hand of the government know what its right hand is doing?

Our Prime Minister’s recent speech on Iraq crises is an indication to the nation that we are one nation who cannot independently decide what to do and what not to in the given circumstances.

We have picked up a habit to follow others rather than to be followed, and it indicates our moral standing toward national and international issues.

Its very first time for the US government that its decision has been challenged by those who are comparatively weaker than it. The World is very clearly divided over the Iraqi Issue into groups as per their conflicting policies. Pakistan has yet got another chance to be a reliable friend and ally.  Key to avoid war lies with China, US troubled economy cannot afford going against Chinese policy as China is the biggest  market for US products.

So my suggestion is that our Prime Minister Mir Zaffarullah Jamali should have asked our foreign policy experts to draft his speech according to the needs of our region and he should have outspoken rather than if's and but's.

Unfortunately, Mir Zafarullah Jamali didn't clearly argued in his recent speech over Iraq issue whether why wouldn’t he want to help the US-led war against Iraq.

However, he was quoted saying that it would be difficult to support US in the war against Iraq. It is not known what are the reasons which is baring Jamali government from extending his support to the US war at this crucial time when US is seeking help and support from nations across the World.

As one can assume as to Mr Jamali would this time help the US government at any cost, but it's difficult to support US-led war against Iraq.  Mr Jamali must be well-aware of the fact that we don't have any borders with Iraq; therefore, in any case we are unable to help American in its war against Iraq. The harm is already done to Pakistan by helping in the war against Afghanistan, where we lost thousands of our innocent Muslim brothers.
