I think General Musharraf has been doing something better to the national development and he must stay in uniform as long as he feels it necessary for the country.
The LFO should be a part of the constitution, as it would bar the corrupt politicians from exploiting the country resources.

Since president is a head of the state while Chief of staff is a subordinate of prime minister, how can General Pervez Musharraf be both the president and Chief of Army Staff at the same time?
What a nice political joke!

The LFO has, by the grace of Allah, blessed the nation with restoration of
democracy in the country, safety from complete bankruptcy, confidence and pride
to the people, unprecedented good financial health, respectable position in the
world, confidence building of investors, military strength and deterrence, and
strong national institutions.
President Gen Pervez Musharraf should stay in uniform as president to ensure
continuity of progressive policies.

General Musharraf has no legitimate right to stay in power with or without
uniform. It is shameful to defame civilian institutes by coming through back

Politicians are unpredictable and totally unreliable. They have created hatred
among the people of different provinces. They have looted Pakistan in the name
of religion and ‘Rooti-Kapra Aur Makan.
They have never done any constructive work to build strong Pakistan. Our biggest
population is uneducated and politicians are taking advantage of it. We should
welcome to the LFO and the decision of Musharraf to stay in the military
uniform.
People of Pakistan should not
worry about his uniform, and now if he puts off his uniform, he will go out of
political arena, and another political leader will try to sell the country like
the rest did.

Those who say that the Legal Framework Order or amendments made by President
Musharraf are illegal because they are not approved by the parliament and he had
no political or moral right to do so are missing some very crucial points.
Why don't opponents of LFO take the issue to the Supreme Court of Pakistan? The
fact is that it is part of the constitution. What the opposition parties are
doing at the moment is that they have stopped and prevented proceedings in the
National Assembly by undemocratic methods.
The opposition have shouted, boo slogans and made annoying sounds to ultimately
force the Speaker to adjourn the session. This repeated tactics have
resulted in that National Assembly accomplished nothing. Opposition parties
should be more responsible and instead of blocking the proceedings they should
take part in it so that their voice may be heard.

President General Pervez Musharraf is a guarantee through the LFO to provide
stability to Pakistan. Have people forgot the fact that during the rule of the
incompetent politicians Pakistan was heading towards disaster. Don't forget that
Pakistan is still suffering from so-called democratic governance in the past.
Look at the present situation in Pakistan's National and Provincial Assemblies.
What have they done to fulfill and practically implement the promises they made
during campaign for election?
People of Pakistan does not desire democracy in the name of bad governance, no
accountability for looting state money and destruction of state institutions.
Pakistan should have as the President has often said one supreme law: No law
should be above the Pakistan's national interest.

Well Pakistan is a democratic country and this is not democracy. So either
Pervez Musharraf should leave the slots of President and COAS or terminate

President General Musharraf is great visionary leader. He is mush better than
politicians. He pulled Pakistan out of trouble in very difficult situation. LFO

Otherwise, politicians will loot and plunder the national wealth.

President Musharraf has done, and is still doing a great job for Pakistan. Uniform and LFO doesn't matter as long as he is being sincere and loyal to the country as compared to the rest of all his predecessors. Opposition should get a life and behave for a positive change. LFO is not an issue in a country facing unemployment and struggling economy.

Looking at General Pervez Musharraf’s
three years performance, I am comforted that the LFO will stay in
place. During the late 80's and 90's, there was civilian rule in Pakistan,
and the politicians gave us a legacy of corruption and law and order
situation.
In practice we have seen that the civilian governments have their own
priorities which often conflict with the expectation of the ordinary
citizen. They seem lacking vision and are pressurised to oblige their
cronies.
The need of the hour is a stable
government, which should be allowed to complete its term. Pakistan needs a
strong president, who can oversee it.

Wearing an Army uniform in a Democratic country is bad but that doesn't mean
that arguments used by the opposition are good.
I think the opposition needs to concentrate more on working together with
President Musharraf and help him solve the economical and social problems of
Pakistani people; rather than whining about President's uniform.

Politicians of our country are much keen to save their parties interest rather
than the nation. Although the constitutional amendments will have its impact on
the political conditions of the country, but still this is not a serious issue
to a common Pakistani.
The basic issue is the development of Pakistan, which will have the direct impact on the routine life of a common person that has been left behind by the political parties and LFO has become their priority.

This is nothing but the short-sightedness
and mere ignorance if you think that the real problem of the people of Pakistan
is the provision of jobs to work and the bread to eat and they have nothing to
do with the constitution of Pakistan and 'the people' playing with it.
Constitution is not a joke that whoever and whenever wants should make changes
in it against the will of the people.
The amendments in the constitution, which are
made without the approval of the parliament, can't be acceptable to the public.
It should be clear at this juncture that one-man-show and dictatorship who plays
in the hands of the foreign powers can never be in the interest of Pakistan and
the Pakistani people.
The politicians and the rulers who want to alter the constitution in their own
interest and for their survival and under the direction of foreign super powers
are the foes rather than the well-wishers of their homeland. You should
mind that those nations who can't defend themselves and their constitution from
the foreign infiltration are destined to perish and disappear.
The present president of Pakistan has, therefore, no legal, political or moral right to meddle with the constitution of a sovereign country. The route he has taken to the throne and his present status is questionable legally and constitutionally. LFO and all the rest of the amendments, which were made without the parliamentary approval, cannot be the part of the constitution and these changes would be sinister and detrimental to our country and our people in the long run, even though they appear favourable at present.
Our parliamentarians should understand this important point and should abide by the law and respect the constitution, which is the soul of the soma of our country and with the lacerated soul you can't prosper and progress. The politicians should change their approach to tackle this issue. The stubborn attitude of the ruling party is contemptuous, childish and unreasonable, and the tricks they are playing to distract the attention of the public from these important issues to 'food, cloth and housing' are disgustive and should be condemned.
Let us pray to the Almighty that He may defend Islam, Pakistan and our people from the evil motives of unwise politicians and the crooked foreign elements. He may enable our rulers and politicians to have a good vision and learn the crafts of statesmanship.

I have received critical comments from certain
expatriate Pakistanis on the comment I had made in the forum on LFO being
synonymous to stability
I do stand by what I feel maybe because I am also an expatriate Pakistani living
in the Gulf but I became an expatriate Pakistani not by will. I was forced by
circumstances that led that due to the complete mismanagement of the country's
affairs in the hands of the political elite. I lived through the most traumatic
years of my country in Pakistan. There was no glimmer of hope. Today as an
expatriate Pakistan, I see in the Gulf our former premiers through investment
and crying for no investment and dying people. Some our building 5 Star Hotels
and Apartment Blocks and some are constructing mills all through plundered
money.
I do agree it is not a good sign that the bureaucracy rules the country but then
nation has more pressing problems at hand, like the very survival of the
country. We have worthless leadership like that of MMA which says we should
throw a bomb at USA. Do you want people like this to rule the country? Haven't
they pushed us to where we not stand?
There is need for more pragmatic, sane, politically conscious and educated
leadership to come out which can represent the country in the comity of nations.
It is hight time to put halt the misrule continuing for last couple of decades.
First time we have financial and political accountability. We have a President
who has held all quarters accountable. He has his problems too. So, let’s not
create mess for him and let him complete the most pressing jobs at hand.

LFO is not a problem of common Pakistani. What does a common Pakistani desires?. It is Job Security of life and easy availability of common utilities. No Govt. in the past 55years has been able to do this. Now if it looks possible even in the shadow of LFO then what is wrong in it.
Army uniform is not bad if it intends to eradicate corruption. So far I think General Musharraf is doing good. He should be a part of the government. But, he should choose either presidency or army.

We have elected representatives to do work in the parliament for the good of the people of Pakistan. I am surprised that they are arguing what dress Mr. Musharraf should wear. This is a trivial matter as compared to solving the outstanding problems in our country related to poverty, education and building new projects such as electricity, supply of clean water, health and keeping the cities clean from garbage etc.
Elected people should collectively create an understanding of brotherhood and most of all as a true Pakistani work hard to produce favorable results for the benefit of the people. We live thousands of miles away from Pakistan and can only pray that: may Allah give our elected representatives a sense of oneness and work hard to make Pakistan one of the best in the world.

President General Pervez Musharrraf should stay in uniform and LFO should remain part of the Constitution. It all allowed to materialise, then I don't know what effects this will have in the future.
For sure, I know one thing that whatever President Musharraf has done so far for the country, he has done that rightly so. He is sincere to the country more sincere than any leader that I have seen since I have been following the politics. President Musharaf should remain in uniform because if his uniform goes then his three-year hard work will go with it.

I think he has no legal/moral right to play with the future whole nation. The people of Pakistan want true democarcy and are fed-up from dictatorship.

As per my understanding, 1973 Constitution should not be changed/revised by a single person (what so ever he/she is), Supreme court has no right to allow any one (whether that by force)
to change the Constitution, The Legal way to bring changes, if need be, it is only
through 2/3rd majority of assembly.
By this way, President G. Musharaf has only try to strengthen himself but not the country / constitution.
The drawback for future will be same that any person by pressure on supreme court can change in constitution as per his/her desire.

According to my point of view, President Musharraf , did a great job . Every thing, he took steps are all good. I think before him this country had not laws and principals, even corruption was every where. MNA and Government officers were every thing. They seem like lords of state but now its look better than before.
About LFO, I agreed with him that it must be a part of constitution, because it is better for people and they can easily solve their problems locally with out using any unfair means.
About staying in uniform, It is ok, people of Pakistan only need good education, health, clean drinking water , opportunities of jobs , food , planned area to live , proper sewerage and drainage system , so they hope that they get these all in his period .

President General Pervez Musharaf needs LFO as a part of 1973 Constitution. Secondly he wants to continue looking smart with the uniform of a General. These two are his main weapons to protect him and his power. He only wants to them safefuard them; not the people or the country.
Anyway, who cares for the people and the country. No body did any good in the past and probably nobody in the near future shall do it. The head of state of a democratic country with the uniform of a General is unique to us. Nobody will ever take Pakistan as a free and democratic country with these pictures on our face. The previous so called democratic governments of Benazir and nawaz had looted this country and only 1 billion dollar was in foreigin reserves and today more than 10 billion!!!!!. This shows Pakistan is moving in the right direction and people that want him away or want him take his uniform are those who are looters and they cant get through to the wealth/money that belonges to people of pakistan and not to looters. I think that the people of Pakistan would accept LFO instead of the current controversial one provided it is framed and implemented in line with the stipulated procedure as defined in the constitution. Any amendment in constitution is the prerogative of the national assembly and must be respected by all.
Regarding President's announcement to remain in uniform is principally a violation of constitution. If, in the interest of nation, it is essential for the president to hold two key-posts simultaneously then it must be put to the elected parliament for its approval.

History of over fifty years has shown us the army is, fortunately or unfortunately, part and parcel of the national politics due to ineffective political system and with due permission.
Contrarily, general is at least realistic in many ways and this is what we need at present times. Instead of concentrating on LFO stuff, the politicians should concentrate on the economic development of Pakistan if they have any love and affection left for their masses and for Pakistan.

In my opinion, General Musharaf should be trusted and allowed to carry on for a specified period of time in his present role for the security and safety of the country.
General Musharaf's behavior of the past exhibits sincerity and honesty at least in the sense that so far he has not gotten any body killed or clamped down on the free press. I
Know, I grew up under many dictatorships in Pakistan; the very first step each dictator took was to assault the newspapers and press and imprisoned the leaders of the political parties.
This dictator has not done any of those things and I think, he deserves to be allowed to complete his tenure as a president.

Pakistan has become a laughing stock in the world just because of these
self-proclaimed president-cum-generals and its nothing new that another one of
those generals have taken over by force and that too purely on personal grounds.

As a democracy lover, whether we like it or not, we cannot deny the fact that
General Musharraf's record of performance is unbeatable and; therefore, it is
wise to allow him the exception of keeping him in the uniform for the time

Therefore, I believe that for the time being we should focus more on political

I am glad to read that President Musharraf has said that LFO will remain an inseparable part pf the constitution-1973, and that he will stay in uniform.
What difference does it make if he stays in uniform or not? This time Pakistan has finally found a true Pakistani leader who is honestly working for the country and its prosperity.
Everybody is so hyped up for democracy that they quickly forgot the previous so-called democratic governments, who almost brought the country close to the edge of bankruptcy.

I think we should wait and see the outcome of the committee consisting on members of the opposition and the government made by Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, as both the parties will discuss at length, one by one the LFO amendments. Hopefully, they will sort out the LFO issue outside the parliament.
General Musharraf had already elaborated on the issue of his uniform, when he was asked by one of the participants of the conference attended by newspapers editors if he would jettison his uniform at an appropriate time and that would happen during the period of 5 years term of his tenure.
In both the cases, the general public should give time, both to the members of the opposition parties and to the members of the treasury benches to sort out the issue on their own. In case of General Musharraf, he too will honour his commitment.

In fact President Musharref is an unconstitutional president and has not moral and political right to keep both presidency and uniform at the same time. If he wants to be president, he should retire from his army position and the contest election as per constitution of 1973.
If he insists to hold both positions, he is not at all doing anything good to Pakistan. Under present regional, International and domestic scenario, Pakistan needs to have a strong democratic government at center and full time army chief. This could be achieved only if Musharref retreats.

This is not just President Gen. Musharraf but
our traditional political history. The president is always something

Further, neither LFO nor Uniform are the main issues; actual issue is to ensure
